We are delighted to announce the launch of our web site that we hope will prove useful to you.

In 2008 the responsibilities for Incorporated Ministries shifted from the Presbytery to the Conference. London Conference is keen to support your work and mission by offering guidelines and oversight to ensure effective governances. These resources are provided to assist that effort.

Most incorporated ministries in London Conference have received information on the new “Section 429 guidelines” for United Church-affiliated corporations. And many have completed the work to revise and update their by-laws and their practices to correspond with the changes that were first announced after the United Church of Canada’s General Council meeting held in 2006.

The following information and events have been made available to incorporated ministries: 

• the November 19, 2007 letter to incorporated ministries, presbyteries and Conferences from United Church of Canada General Secretary Nora Sanders
• the March 2010 letter from Conference Acting Executive Secretary Heather McLean announcing London Conference’s new role as the supervising court and inviting incorporated ministries to attend information sessions held in London and Chatham
• the January 2011 workshop in London on by-laws and Church requirements
• continuing communication with members of the Conference’s committee on incorporated ministries (“CINC”)

We appreciate and thank you for your hard work and patience, and we want to make it easier for you to do your ongoing work while meeting our requests regarding compliance with the United Church of Canada’s requirements. 

We have launched this website to put in one place the information you and your board need to know about section 429, London Conference requirements, and resources that we have developed to put the new requirements in place as easily as possible.

This website has been launched so that Boards of incorporated ministries in London Conference will be able to complete their work more easily and more quickly.  All of the information we think you need about supervision and support from the Conference is located here, in one place.

We have included new tools to make it easy for you to change your by-laws (we’ll do most of that for you) and to have key dates close at hand (and we’re working on how to develop an intranet for each of you to communicate internally if you wish one, including a calendar that includes these dates and deadlines).

And we have made it easier for you to contact us, to send us your questions, and to send in your annual information package.
