Our Beliefs

What do we believe ?

No one of us possesses the whole wisdom, the whole truth, the whole ministry. But together we have everything that we need. Paul understood this two thousand years ago, "The hand cannot say to the foot whatever it was the hand said to the foot". The founders of our denomination understood that the more we work together the healthier we will be. Jesus taught that “Where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”

Engraved onto our church crest is this phrase, "That all may be one". The meaning of those words change from age to age. In our time it calls forth our recognition that we are greater than simply the sum of our parts. That as we go into this new age humanity is moving to a time when we will need to have a greater reliance on each other. We remember the radical inclusion of the marginalized by Jesus and life changing teachings of Jesus to love our neighbour, love ourselves and love God.

That all may be one means to stand unashamedly side by side with respect for each other, whatever our differences. It means working together, supporting each other, sharing our strengths.

That all may be one, means to walk with our aboriginal brothers and sisters into the future knowing that the health of their future and the health of our future is irrevocably intertwined.

That all may be one, reflects the deep understanding that we are intimately connected with this natural world in which we live. Environmental concerns are mounting.
