The websites for community organizations and sector associations are a door to information and supports they offer or can link you to.
The London-based Pillar Non-Profit Network has over 200 member organizations – including several London Conference ministries -- and provides training, board and management supports, and referrals on a wide variety of topics.
Outdoor camping ministries are part of the United Church of Canada’s accreditation and duty of care program and are accredited members of the Ontario Camps Association.
Ministries providing housing or seniors services may be members of the Ontario Non-Profit Housing Association (ONPHA) or Ontario Association of Non-Profit Homes and Services for Seniors (OANHSS); United Church standards for these groups are also on the United Church website.
Contact the United Way or community foundation in your county or city for access to resources, financial support, contact with similar groups to yours, and volunteer training.
The Conference Incorporated Ministries Committee (CINC) is the volunteer body responsible for supporting and supervising incorporated ministries within London Conference. Contact us directly with questions, or check out our home page for links to more resources.
Our services for incorporated ministries include a model by-law ; a list of standard United Church of Canada clauses [DOC #5] for updating your by-law; referrals to lawyers on specific matters program and worship resources; and advice on accessing volunteers and programs in presbyteries, congregations, and the national Church.
The guidelines for incorporated ministries are on the UCC website, in a brief pamphlet and in the detailed Guidelines document. Other material on standards, duty of care and resources for congregations (the financial and archives handbooks for congregations are particularly good and the information is also very relevant for incorporated ministries) can be accessed or ordered from the United Church of Canada website. The national group insurance program is open to incorporated ministries, at group rates.
